in a brilliant strategy to raise their children so as not to be frightened by cobras, indians have some snakes defanged so children cat get "up close & personal" with them. which makes all the sense in the world, so when they're six, and they see one in the bushes in the back yard, they can apply that same nonchalance, fuck with it & get bitten on the face. and then perish.
